As soon as Korhan Futacı presses his lips to the saxophone’s mouthpiece, the ritual begins. During his concert, the prominent figure of Turkey’s alternative music scene will guide us from the chaos of Istanbul to an uncharted realm. A place filled with vitality but also darkness; fusing traditional Turkish music with free improvisations. With his brand new all-Turkish quartet, he draws us into an immersive musical universe that transcends time and place.
Renowned for his proficiency as a saxophonist, composer, producer, singer, and songwriter, he has become a prominent figure in Turkey's alternative music scene. Korhan Futacı has performed on countless stages; notably, as part of the free jazz group "Konstrukt" at Roskilde, Jazzfest Saalfelden, A'larme Festival. With his versatile artistic expression, he has collaborated with prominent musicians across genres, including avantgarde icons Peter Brötzmann, Marshall Allen of the jazz ensemble Sun Ra Arkestra, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, Ken Vandermark or William Parker.
